Emissions Reduction Alberta Launches Fuel Innovation Fund as a Compliance Option Under Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations

EDMONTON, AB – Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) has been approved as an Emission Reduction Funding Program under Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations. Its new subsidiary, the Fuel Innovation Fund, will provide regulated fuel suppliers, industry innovators, and technology developers with an opportunity to deploy technology that lowers the carbon intensity of transportation fuels.

The Fuel Innovation Fund has two funding streams: a continuous intake program where primary suppliers can apply to reinvest into their own capital projects and an annual competitive funding that will support a broad range of applicants.

With over 16 years of delivering clean technology investments, ERA is uniquely positioned to administer the Fuel Innovation Fund. Its transparent and rigorous process ensures investments are allocated fairly, efficiently, and in line with federal requirements.

Under the regulation, funding is open to a wide range of technologies, including digital optimization and energy efficiency improvements, process and fuel switching, electrification, co-processing and refining, fuel blending and low-carbon fuel production, feedstock and supply chain innovations, market expansion and transport solutions for drop-in fuels.
